Single-Leaf Custom Sizes

Minimum dimension of length or width is 6” (152.4 mm). Door sizes can be in increments of 1/16” (1.6 mm). Non-standard sized access panels may need to be manufactured as multi-leaf doors.

Custom size example: single leaf 16 1/8” x 40” (409.6 x 1016 mm) for 5/8” (15.9 mm) drywall with touch latches.

Large Multi-Leaf Custom Doors

Our panels can be manufactured as multi-leaf doors in Butterfly and Bomb Bay styles, depending on the opening size. There are no cross bars at the centre on both designs, just a continuous clear opening.

Custom size example: double-leaf 48” x 48” (1219.2 x 1219.2 mm) for 5/8” (15.9 mm) drywall with touch latches.

Board Inlay specification

The access panel inlay should equal the wall & ceiling specifications to ensure acoustic integrity.
BAUCO^® plus II is supplied standard with moisture and mold resistant gypsum board inlay

(Optional) BAUCO^® plus II is supplied with increased STC rating options

Multi Layer Drywall Installation

The BAUCO^® plus II access panel can be installed in a wall or ceiling where there are multiple layers of drywall. In this application the installer will need to recess the panel to the finishing layer by removing an 1 1/4" (31.75 mm) past the cut opening from the extra layers of drywall allowing the access panel frame to mount to the finishing layer. Please take a look at our double layer submittal drawing for details.

Hinge Location

BAUCO^® plus II panels for ceiling installation will be hinged on the longest side unless specified. When BAUCO^® plus II panels are used in a wall installation, the hinges must be located on the floor side. The last 2 digits of the product code will always be the hinge location, and always the horizontal measurement for a wall installation.

Hinge location examples:
18" x 24" (457.2 x 609.6 mm) panel for ceiling installation hinged on the 24” (609.6 mm) side: product code 20-58-1824
